Please join us in welcoming Penelope and Kadija to the team. You can find out more about them and what they’ll be working on below:

Penelope Tsirogiannis

To introduce myself, my name is Penelope Tsirogiannis and I am (recently) 21. I am a third-year Bachelor of Health Science student at La Trobe and am majoring in Health Promotion, and as of recently, I have begun placement with the Heart and Lung Transplant Trust Victoria. In terms of my studies, I aim on progressing into a Master of Occupational Therapy in 2022 to eventually become an Occupational Therapist.

I have always had an interest and passion for health and helping people, and particularly, my drive for this career path is the influence of my brother, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder. My other interests include a wide variety of things, such as fashion, reading, spirituality, food, music, and much, much more. On top of my studies, I work in a customer service role for a number of airlines at Melbourne Airport and I absolutely love working in the aviation environment. I also work as a freelance Netball Umpire for the Melbourne Sports Institute, as well as running two of my own businesses on the side.

I am so excited to have this opportunity to be involved with the HLTTV this semester and am excited to continue expanding my knowledge on the transplant process and the contribution that the HLTTV has with everyone involved with the process, as well as the impact that they have on so many peoples lives. During my placement with the HLTTV, I will be developing a plan to raise awareness of the organisation, and be involved in a plan to recruit new members. I am eager to contribute my own ideas and insights with the team and committee and assist in making my own impact. This is an amazing opportunity for me to experience health promotion techniques and strategies in a real-life setting and I am so grateful and happy to be on board.

Kadija Mrad

Hello my name is Kadija Mrad, I am a student currently studying a Bachelor of Health Sciences, majoring in Health promotion at La Trobe University. I was born in Melbourne and in my spare time I like to read books and spend time with my family.

This semester, I have been granted the opportunity to join the HLLTV organisation for a 10-week Placement to be involved in a communication project. My role in the organisation is to audit current communication and think about ways to streamline communication content across different platforms. I am Interested and excited to be part of the project because it will allow me to learn about the heart and lung transplant surgery experience and also allow me to develop my skills in writing in different styles so that I can spread awareness about the HLTTV organisation and their goals.
