Staying Healthy
Your commitment to look after yourself after transplant is important for a successful outcome after surgery. Keeping this commitment will require that you do the following:
Take all your medications as prescribed by the doctors.
Keel all your medical appointments including clinic visits and biopsies.
Call the transplant team about potential problems
Do not abuse your body by smoking, drinking alcohol or using non prescribed drugs.
Adhere to dietary guidelines and restrictions as instructed by the dietician.
Adhere to exercise guidelines as prescribed by the doctors and physiotherapists.
Sounds easy, really! Most of us will remember to take our medications, also to keep our clinic appointments and all the other medical requirements. Surely non of us would even think of smoking or taking non prescribed drugs. Alcohol, well we will stay within reasonable limits (as long as it does not mess with our minds).
Healthy
Eating and Exercising, well, that's another thing? Don't forget,
these are the things that we have control over, to help us live longer.
