Hospital Information
Admission and Discharge
Four your assessment admission you must report to the admission office on the 2nd. floor at 9.00 am.
Discharges
are normally arranged in conjunction with you and your relatives to take
place before 11 am, so the bed may be available for another admission
later that day. Your doctor and Primary nurse will plan your discharge
with you and your family.
You may choose to be admitted as a public or private patient.
Staff in the Admission and Discharge office can help you in deciding
which is the most appropriate type of admission for you.
What to Bring
Your own night attire, slippers and dressing gown. The hospital is centrally heated so summer attire is adequate.
Casual clothes eg. tracksuits to wear during the day.
Your personal toiletries, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush.
Your Medicare card, hospital insurance book, pension or health benefit card.
Details of any allergies.
Details of medications you are currently taking.
The hospital cannot accept any responsibility for your valuables. It is best to leave jewellery and other valuable items at home.
Enquiries
The condition of patients is regularly told to the enquiry office. The direct telephone number to ask the condition of a patient is 03 9076 2000
It is preferable is one family member is able to make enquiries on behalf of the rest of the family and friends.
Telephones
A bedside telephone can be hired for a small charge. Public telephones are located on the ground floor of the main building and in the foyer of each level. There are also public telephones in the waiting area of ward 5East, 2F and Intensive care.
Mail is delivered daily. It is helpful if your ward number is included on mail addressed to you.
Televisions are available for hire.
Newspapers and magazines are sold on a daily round.
The Wonderful Alf's Cafe
Alf's Cafe is located in the main foyer of the hospital and is open
7.00am - 7.50pm Weekdays
9.00am - 7.20pm Saturdays
11.00am - 7.20pm Sunday

Visitors
Please discuss the most suitable time to visit with the nurses on the ward. It is advisable to keep visitors to minimum while you are in hospital. Some wards have designated rest times during the day. We ask that your visitors simply with the rest period as it is important for your ultimate wellbeing. Visitors toilets are located on the ground floor.
Interpreter Services
Hospital based interpreters are available, please let your nurse know if you would like to use an interpreter.
Chaplaincy
Chaplains of the major religious denominations are always available. If you wish to see a chaplain, ask the nurse caring for you to arrange a visit.
The hospital has a small chapel located on the ground floor. It is available any time foe use by patients, friends and relatives.
